The Development Concept and Objectives of Liberal Education
        Since the founding of Nanhua University, the objective of the school has been to establish a liberal-oriented institution of higher education. The overall plan centers on the idea of “connecting and driving school curricula through liberal education.” Over the years, liberal education, which earned the honorary name “classical education,” has consistently been the primary feature of Nanhua University, which has steadily obtained favorable results in the various liberal education evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education.
 
        The Nanhua University Genknow Education Center is a first-class academic unit that enforces holistic education based on the school mission. In addition to designing liberal education curricula and educating students, the Genknow Education Center is also responsible for organizing symposiums and demonstration forums. The liberal education paradigm is established by applying constant innovation, research, and development in the academic and teaching domains.

Liberal Development Priorities and Future Prospects
1. In the last evaluation of school-based liberal education characteristics, the Ministry of Education awarded the Nanhua University liberal program an award for excellence in “core curriculum.” The school will continue to build on this foundation by expanding and developing its programs on a larger scale. The focus of development is spreading the positive aspects of the core curriculum to other liberal courses, using the P5BL (problem, project, product, process, and people-based learning) education method and performing qualitative assessments of teaching effectiveness.
 
2. Action plans:
(a) Establishing a model curriculum for liberal education: forming a committee and selecting 3 to 5 effective liberal education courses as the model curriculum for liberal education, sharing teaching tips, hosting teaching demonstrations and liberal teacher conferences, and refining liberal education courses.
(b) Performing qualitative assessments of the effectiveness of educational narratives and the education plan that comprises the P5BL liberal curriculum. The P5BL is a teaching model developed by the Stanford University based on the PBL. It has been confirmed to yield excellent results in training and developing student learning abilities.
 
3. Qualitative assessment involves using educational narratives to develop student narrative abilities, exposing their capacity to integrate, analyze, decipher meanings, and express personal ideas. The pivot of storytelling is important to restructuring the meaning of life. Educational narratives do not entail exhaustive accounts of events, but rather, through storytelling, describe meaningful school life, educational events, educational life, and teaching experiences, uncovering the educational meanings, thoughts, and ideas hidden in daily events, life, and behaviors. Educational narratives feature situations, experiences, problems, reflections, or significance, which can be used to examine core literacy such as ethical, democratic, scientific, aesthetic, and media literacy. Furthermore, they can be used to reflect on and explore possible means of improvement.
 
4. The plan shall be implemented in yearly increments, focusing on the core curriculum in Year 1, adding classical curricula and Chinese writing curricula in Years 2 and 3, respectively, and attaining full implementation in Year 4.
